Martin Elkort Photography

The category of Abstracts, as it exists in photography, focuses on composing a shot that emcompasses shape, form, shading, texture and patterns. While it’s not necessary a photograph of something occurring in reality, it can be a representation of a subject. Martin Elkort’s abstracts, like most of his early work, were shot in and around New York City and are aptly titled to reflect what he saw in the scene, and most were named after he shot the photograph, when he could reflect on what he had captured compared to what he had originally seen. He invites his viewers to see the feeling and essence of his scenes and experience New York from more of an emotional perspective.
