Martin Elkort Photography

In the early 2000s, Martin Elkort left his home turf of Los Angeles and went on several photo shoots to nearby Tijuana, Mexico. There he was able to capture images of the day-to-day lives of the local people as they went about their busy commerce. Tijuana is a border town that caters to tourists from all around the world, so many of his subjects were people looking for work or engaged in many of the occupations that cater to the tourist industry such as mariachis, drug stores, vendors and prostitutes. While Tijuana is a busy city, quiet moments of reflection were often found.
